Mario Diano founded his shipyard in 1979, deciding to build in wood at a time when fibreglass was beginning to become widely used in the nautical market. The experience in building wooden boats and the fragrance of the materials employed resulted in high quality and unique products.

The Diano yachts built are all in wood planking hulls with flying bridges and range in size from 20 to 33 metres, with the keel up to 30 metres being of mixed type. The straight part of the stern is in solid mahogany and is joined with the bow. The latter built in laminated wood, the ten planks that make it up allow the necessary curvature to be achieved without cutting the wood fibre and avoiding excessive waste of material.
